Ten years ago to the day, two Trust members were engaged on a Big Adventure. They had travelled to Ghana, Africa. They went there to visit Anglo Gold Ashanti and oversee the loading of a wreck steam loco for repatriation to the UK. The steam loco was, of course, Hudswell 1238. For various reasons, the restoration of this loco was accelerated beyond the wildest dreams of anyone who endured the sweltering heat of an equatorial Gold mine, and the results of that trip, and much subsequent hard work, can be seen at Apedale. Some of the photos from the trip have seen the light of day in various places, others have not – so we’ll publish tonight a few more of the second category.
